Cap Romain Cliff National nature reserve

Cap Romain gets its name from the vestiges of Roman and Gallo-Roman settlements. The cliff is 6 to 7 meters high and about 500 meters long and borders the beaches of Bernières-sur-mer and Saint-Aubin-sur-mer. It is regarded as an open-air geological museum: erosion has revealed an exceptionnal fossil sponge reef , a section that serves as reference for the Jurassic period as well as quaternary deposits attesting to the last glacial period.

The Platon wetland

The Platon wetland, which means a small coastal prairie, is situated behind the dunes where the Seulles river bed used to be before it was redirected from Bernières to Courseulles- sur-mer. It is home to a wide variety of plant species and abundant wildlife ( fish, amphibians and insects) including two rares species: one animal, the Natterjack toad, and one aquatic plant, Ruppia maritima, also known as Widegeon grass.

Juno Park

Guided tours of the bunkers opposite the museum with the Canadian guides of the Juno Beach Centre in French or in English. Area dedicated to the conservation of the natural environment and resources with an entertaining tour dealing with tree major themes: the D-Day landing on Juno Beach, the seaside resort and the plants and wildlife. It is an exceptional site due to its location, the wealth of natural resources and its historic character, hence the name " Juno Park". This site combines landscaping and information panels to learn more about the historic heritage of the aera. The guided tours include a visit in the underground rooms of the Command Post of the 6th Compagny, 736th Infantry Regiment of Hauptmann Grote. In 1944, this German Command Post was connected to the observation bunker by a covered tunnel.

This park contributes to the protection of the environment and wildlife and strives to enhance it. It comprises a bridleway that goes to the beach, a fitness trail, a petanque ground and an archery shooting line.

Verdun Park

Whale Park

In January 1885, a whale, 19 meters long and weighing 40 tonnes was washed up the beach not far from Langrune-s-mer. Its squeleton has been exhibited since 1938 in the town hall park. The Whale Museum has an area dedicated to whales lo learn more about them, information about whale hunting and whale protection and a room dedicated to science. It is located in a pretty garden planted with flowers and trees, which also has a playground for children and farm animals.
