The whale is the pride of Luc sur mer, since its stranding in 1885 we have had the chance, to the delight of young and old, to discover its immense skeleton in the Municipal Park.
On the night of January 14 to 15, 1885, a 40-tonne whale, 19 metres long, stranded on the shores of the Côte de Nacre, at a place called “Brèche du Moulin”.
Through a visit of the Maison de la Baleine (Whale House) discover the incredible story of this whale stranded in Normandy and, more generally, the history of this species of cetacean.
But what do you find there?
A area of legends and anecdotes about whales,
A memorandum on whaling and whale protection,
A scientific area grouping together the anatomical and physiological data of these mammals,
A video room with the projection of a film retracing the story of Luc’s whale,
A retrospective on the stranding of the whale of Luc with period documents,
A souvenir shop, postcards, books…
