Like millions of French people, you have decided to travel with your dog and are looking for a holiday destination?
With its 10km of fine sand and its pedestrian dykes, the Côte de Nacre is ideal for a walk by the sea with your pet.
From Courseulles-sur-Mer to Luc-sur-Mer, the communes have nevertheless established some conditions for access to the beaches, which you will find below.
Each owner is responsible for picking up his or her pet’s faeces. Bags are available free of charge in the dispensers, at the rescue stations, in the town hall or at the tourist office
Dogs on the beach – regulations :
From 1st April to 30th September: not allowed on the main beach. Only allowed without a lead on the beach from the Rue des Champs Elysées (to the right of the first aid post no. 2) from the rocks, Chemin du Corps de Garde level. On the seawall: allowed on a lead.
From 1st October to 31st March: all Luc’s beaches are open to dogs on a lead. On the sea wall: allowed on a lead.
From 15 June to 15 September: not allowed on the beach. Allowed on a lead on the high seawall.
From 16 Sept to 14 June: Allowed on a lead at low tide. Not allowed on dry sand.
Not permitted in the supervised swimming area (from the restaurant Le Crabe Vert to the sailing club) between 15 June and 31 August. Otherwise, they are allowed on the beach on a lead for the rest of the year.
Allowed on a lead outside the supervised swimming areas (Cale du Platon to Place du Canada). During July and August, dogs or any other domestic animal are allowed on the seawall, on the beach, on the sandy strips in front of and behind the beach huts, on a lead.
During the period of beach surveillance (July and August), prohibited even at low tide in the eastern zone: (from the jetty to the riprap of the Marinas) and in the West zone (from the riprap of the outer harbour channel to the limit of Graye-sur-mer)
Dogs are allowed on a lead from the Camping Caf Fun to the Cale du Platon in Bernières-sur-mer.
On the dyke, dogs must be kept on a lead.

What about the parks?
Parc de l’Edit : Dogs are allowed on a leash.
However, beware of the frequent passage of horses in the bridle path.
Parc Pillier : Dogs are allowed on a lead. Dogs are allowed on a leash and doggy bags are available at the entrances to the park.
Parc du Bois Joli : Access is permitted with a maximum 2m lead. The park is open from 9am to 5.30pm from 1 November to 31 March and from 9am to 9pm from 1 April to 31 October.
Au Parc de la Baleine : Open from 9am to 6pm from 1 October to 31 March and from 9am to 7pm from 1 April to 31 September. There are waste bags at the entrance.
Parc de Verdun : It is open all year round from 8am to 7pm. There are also waste bags available at the entrance. The information given in this article was provided by the town halls. It may be modified by municipal decree.
